GPS Adventures

A Guide for Teachers and Students

These GPS (Global Positioning System) lessons and activities are meant t peak your students’ curiosity, help them become more familiar with technology, and excite them to get out into the world and explore.

Curriculum provided by Minotaur Mazes and Geocaching.com – creators of the GPS Adventures touring exhibition.

The Maryland Society of Surveyors (MSS) has a Future Surveyors program in Baltimore, MD to introduce high school students to a career in surveying. In partnership with the nonprofit organization Urban Alliance and the Baltimore Mayor’s Office of Economic Development, MSS mentors students and facilitates summer internships with local surveying firms and government agencies. Bryan Haynie, chair of the Baltimore Chapter and chair of the MSS Workforce Development Committee, lead the program, which as been featured on the cover of P.O.B. magazine and on Baltimore television. MSS hosted a session at its 2017 annual conference featuring the first year interns, who shared their experiences in and year-two interns were recognized at the 2018 conference.
